This rewarding Teaching Assistant role is ideal for candidates who have experience supporting children with autism (ASC), ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), speech and language difficulties, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and complex needs.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a positive and engaging learning environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and encouraged to succeed.
You may work within Key Stage 1 (KS1), Key Stage 2 (KS2), Key Stage 3 (KS3), or Key Stage 4 (KS4), depending on your experience and the needs of the school.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
Your duties may include:
- Delivering one-to-one support and leading small intervention groups.
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
- Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and classroom activities.
- Encouraging pupils’ confidence, independence, and emotional well-being.
- Supporting positive behaviour management strategies.
- Monitoring and recording pupil progress.
- Assisting with personal care responsibilities where required.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this Teaching Assistant position, you should have:
- A minimum of six months of experience working within a UK school, nursery, care setting, or alternative provision environment.
- Experience supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is desirable.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, patient, and compassionate attitude.
- An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or a willingness to apply for one.
