1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Cannock
Duration: Full time, on going
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
The School/role:
I am working with a welcoming and passionate school in Cannock that are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants to join their team. This school strives to provide the best quality teaching and learning with an inclusive and personalised curriculum. This is a full-time post and will run until the end of the academic year, working with a young child who can display challenging behaviour and is non-verbal.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teaching Assistant OR Relevant SEN Background
- BSL or Makaton training/experience
- SEN experience, ideally with similar needs
- Beneficial – PECS/ Restraint Training/ Positive Handling/ De-Escalation/MAPA
- Level 1 (or above) safeguarding certificate
- Relevant references
- Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence and passport
- Full DBS – on the update service

Due to location of the school, you must be able to drive/taxi regularly to the school as there are no public transport routes.

The ideal candidate for this role will be experienced supporting children with speech and learning needs, as well as behavioural needs. It is essential that the member of staff appointed is able to be a consistent body for this child, and have a calm and nurturing approach. This will require patience, commitment and the ability to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment.
