PE Teacher
Location: Quinton & Central Birmingham
Duration: Full time post ongoing
Salary: £165 – £280 per day
Job description
Balfor Education is looking for an enthusiastic PE Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking PRU secondary setting. You’ll be planning and delivering fun, engaging PE lessons for students aged 11–16, covering a mix of sports, fitness, and health activities. You’ll also help shape the curriculum, support students’ physical and emotional development, and work closely with the head of department and pastoral staff to motivate and inspire pupils.
Responsibilities:
- Teach a range of physical activities, including team sports, individual sports, fitness, and health-related exercises.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupils’ progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
- Promote positive behaviour, teamwork, and sportsmanship within all PE sessions.
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of pupils with special educational needs (SEND) or other learning challenges.
- Work closely with a range of school staff.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting
- Understanding of diverse learning needs and strategies to support student learning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable
- Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Relevant SEMH training (e.g., Team Teach, Autism Awareness)
- Valid photo ID (Driving Licence or Passport)
- Recent work-based references
