Balfor Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and well-resourced special educational needs (SEN) school in Birmingham. This is a full-time, ongoing role that will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for extension.

About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with varying levels of academic ability and additional needs, including ASD, SLD, and complex/non-verbal communication needs
- Assist in delivering tailored learning activities and behaviour management strategies
- Work closely with teaching staff and SEN specialists to create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment
- Encourage student engagement, independence, and personal development
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience supporting SEN pupils in a school or care setting
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, and non-verbal communication strategies (desirable)
- Confidence working with students with ASD, SLD, or complex needs
- A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Essential Requirements:
- Relevant SEN or Teaching Assistant qualification/background
- Level 1 Safeguarding Certificate
- Two recent school-based references
- Valid photo ID (passport or driving licence)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
