Role: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Stoke-on-Trent

Start Date: September 2025

Days and Hours of work: Monday – Friday

Pay: £90-£105 DOE

 

Balfor Recruitment are working with a School based in Stoke-on-Trent, who are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

The role will be supporting several learners with Special Educational Needs, to support the learners with their academic work, as well as ensuring student’s wellbeing and safety.

The role will be available for full time hours, Monday – Friday, however there may be option for part time availability for the right candidate.

The school are looking for someone who is patient and resilient and has proven experience of working with Special Needs, this can be from a classroom setting or from a children’s/young people’s care setting. There will be an element of personal care involved within this role.

Some of the daily duties will include

  • Supporting learners with various Special Needs, with their schoolwork
  • Preparing resources to meet the needs of students with varying needs
  • Ensuring all students are always safe
  • Accompanying students on educational visits
  • Promoting positive behaviors and attitudes to learning
  • Carrying out personal care, where needed

 

To be successful for this role you will

  • Have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent
  • Experience of using Makaton and/or PECS is desirable
  • Have an understanding
  • Have proven experience of working with young people with Special Needs, including ASD, ADHD, PMLD and SEMH
  • Be friendly and be a team player
  • Be comfortable with undertaking personal care
  • Have a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to pay for a new check to be done.
