Balfor Recruitment is recruiting a dedicated and resilient Cover Supervisor to support a welcoming secondary school in Gorton, Greater Manchester.

This rewarding role is ideal for candidates with previous experience working in schools who can confidently manage classroom behaviour and ensure pupils remain engaged in learning while the class teacher is absent.

The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent classroom management abilities and the confidence to work across a range of subjects and year groups.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Encourage pupils to participate fully in lessons and complete the work provided.
• Support pupils with varying abilities and additional learning needs.
• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and behaviour.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils and colleagues.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has previous experience working within a school environment.
• Can confidently manage challenging behaviour.
• Demonstrates resilience, adaptability and professionalism.
• Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Is passionate about supporting young people in achieving their goals.
• Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Requirements

• A minimum of six months’ experience working within a UK school.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils.
• An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
• Recent education-based references.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
