  • Observe and report on student progress, contributing to the overall development plan for each child.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students, adjusting the approach according to each student’s individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the SEN team, external professionals, and other staff members to support the holistic development of each child.

  • Strong understanding of strategies to support students with complex medical, physical, and emotional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff, including using alternative communication methods where necessary (e.g., Makaton, PECS).
  • Ability to remain patient, calm, and flexible when supporting students with challenging needs.
  • A proactive approach to supporting student learning, independence, and well-being.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a collaborative school environment.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and the importance of a child-centred approach to support.

  • TA qualifications (Level 2 or Level 3) are highly desirable but not essential.
  • DBS on the update service is desirable, but we can provide one if you do not already have one.
