Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

Daily Rate: £85.00 – £100.00 per day

Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm


Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to primary and secondary-aged students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). In this role, you will work closely with an individual pupil, helping them thrive both academically and socially in line with their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). You will collaborate with the class teacher, SENCo, and Inclusion Lead to ensure a supportive, inclusive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to a pupil with SEN in both classroom and individual settings.
  • Assist in the implementation of the pupil’s EHCP, adapting learning materials and activities to meet their specific needs.
  • Support the pupil in developing social skills, independence, and confidence.
  • Monitor and report on the pupil’s progress to the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Help manage any challenging behaviour, ensuring alignment with the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, in a school or similar setting within the last 2 years.
  • Personal care experience is essential.
  • A strong understanding of the needs of pupils with SEN, and a commitment to their learning and development.
  • DBS registered on the update service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude toward supporting children with additional needs.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs.
  • Experience working with pupils with an EHCP.
  • Health and social care training, including safeguarding and restraint training.
