Make a Difference Supporting Children with Additional Needs
Are you a caring and experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity within a welcoming primary school? Do you have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), or other additional learning needs?
Balfor Recruitment is working with inclusive primary schools in Macclesfield to recruit dedicated SEN Primary Teaching Assistants. This role offers the opportunity to provide valuable classroom support and work on a one-to-one basis with pupils who require additional support, helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role
As an SEN Primary Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
- Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging and accessible learning activities.
- Support pupils who require additional help with communication, confidence, emotional regulation, and independence.
- Implement strategies to support positive behaviour and create a calm learning environment.
- Adapt activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs.
- Encourage participation and engagement in classroom activities.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and families.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils.
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 6 months’ experience working within a UK school setting.
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN, additional needs, or behavioural needs is highly desirable.
- Experience working with pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other learning difficulties.
- The ability to provide effective one-to-one support and build strong relationships with pupils.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A flexible and proactive attitude towards supporting children’s learning.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
