Key Responsibilities:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-on-one support to a primary student with special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop essential skills.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure the student’s learning and emotional needs are met through a tailored education plan.
- Deescalate potential incidents with a calm, reflective approach, ensuring the student is supported in a safe and positive environment.
- Offer personal care when required, ensuring the pupil’s comfort and well-being throughout the school day.
- Create a consistent, nurturing environment where the student can thrive and progress, both academically and personally.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs in a primary school setting, especially in a 1:1 capacity.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, with a proactive approach to deescalating challenging situations.
- Willingness to assist with personal care when needed.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, working alongside teachers, support staff, and parents to provide the best possible support for the pupil.
