Teaching Assistant – Digbeth

Location: Digbeth, Birmingham

Duration: Full-time

Salary: £85-£95 per day, depending on experience

 

The School/role:

A vibrant school in Digbeth are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school strives to provide the best quality teaching and learning with an inclusive and personalised curriculum. This is a full-time post and will run until the end of the academic year. You will be predominantly located in the special provision resource base at the school but will also work in other classes supporting a range of children across the school.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Promote social inclusion and encourage positive interactions among students.
  • Assist with personal care needs as required.
  • Collaborate with parents and professionals to ensure coordinated support.
  • Prepare and adapt learning resources to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Foster student independence and support their emotional well-being.

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teaching Assistant or relevant background in SEN support.
  • Experience working with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) and/or SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities).
  • Level 1 Safeguarding certificate.
  • Recent and relevant references.
  • Valid photo ID (Driving Licence or Passport).
  • Full DBS check registered on the update service.

The ideal candidate for this role will be experienced supporting children alongside children with a range of different academic attainment levels. It is essential that these students have a SEN Teaching Assistant to act as a positive role model as well as good academic knowledge to provide lesson support. This will require patience, commitment and the ability to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment.
