Roles available with Special Needs Teaching Jobs
There are two main types of roles available in special needs teaching.
SEN Teaching Assistant:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll have a set of daily responsibilities:
- Assist teachers to provide effective support for learning activities
- Work accordingly to the school's policies and procedures
- Support children and young people who have varied complex needs, who may have life-limiting conditions
- Help students understand instructions and support their independent working
- Contribute to planned learning activities
- Participate in the planning of learning activities
- Supervise a class and or small group
- Maintain a clean and safe learning environment
SEN Teacher:
For an SEN Teacher, there's more responsibility involved on a weekly basis.
- Prepare and plan lessons, as well as teach them
- Prepare teaching materials, write reports and take daily registers
- Manage student's behaviour and monitor your student's progress
- Participate in school trips and workshop
