Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and well-being of students with additional needs. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to ensure that every child receives the personalised support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Support – Provide one-on-one and small-group assistance to students with autism, ADHD, and other learning needs.
- Engagement & Inclusion – Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes active participation.
- Behaviour Management – Implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Lesson Adaptation – Assist teachers in modifying lesson plans to meet individual learning objectives.
- Progress Tracking – Monitor student development and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Personal Care Support – Assist students with personal care needs while promoting independence.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: A minimum of one year’s experience working with children with SEN is essential.
- Qualifications: A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred but not essential.
- Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy & Patience: A caring, understanding, and dedicated approach to supporting children’s needs.
- Team Player: Ability to thrive in a collaborative and dynamic school environment.
