Role Overview:
As a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our students’ educational journeys. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and create a positive, engaging classroom atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Student Learning: Assist teachers in delivering tailored lessons to meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs, including those with autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
- Individualised Support: Work one-on-one or in small groups to provide focused support, ensuring that each student can engage with the curriculum effectively.
- Behavior Management: Implement strategies to promote positive behavior and manage challenging situations with patience and empathy.
- Personal Care: Assist students with personal care routines, mobility, and any necessary daily living tasks, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and parents to share insights and strategies for supporting each student’s unique needs.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to ongoing assessments.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is essential.
- Qualifications: A relevant qualification in special education, childcare, or a related field is preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and colleagues.
