We are a leading SEN school in Birmingham that supports children with special educational needs. Our goal is to help every child reach their full potential and feel included in our community.

Role Overview:
As a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide important support to our students. You will work closely with teachers and follow Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to help each child succeed in a positive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Students: Help children with needs such as autism and ADHD so they can fully engage in their learning.
  • Create a Positive Environment: Encourage a classroom atmosphere that promotes participation and a love for learning.
  • Manage Behaviour: Use helpful strategies to encourage good behaviour and develop social skills.
  • Work with Teachers: Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and activities based on each child’s needs.
  • Monitor Progress: Keep track of how students are doing to support their growth as outlined in EHCPs.
  • Assist with Daily Routines: Help students with personal care and daily activities to promote independence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with special needs is essential.
  • Qualifications: A qualification in special education or childcare is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Skills: Strong communication, understanding of special educational needs, adaptability to individual requirements, empathy, patience, and teamwork skills.
  • Empathy and Patience: A caring approach and a genuine desire to help children succeed.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well with others in a busy environment.
