Location: Chesterfield
Contract: Temporary – Ad hoc shifts available
Pay: £13.68 per hour

Are you experienced in supporting vulnerable adults through crisis and homelessness? Join our dedicated team at Balfor Healthcare and play a vital role in supporting individuals facing extreme challenges including mental health issues, emotional distress, and unstable housing.

In this rewarding role, you’ll be working in a fast-paced, high-need environment, providing critical support and stability to adults navigating trauma, homelessness, and mental health crises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver compassionate emotional support to individuals experiencing acute distress, trauma, or homelessness.
  • Conduct welfare checks and crisis assessments to ensure immediate safety and wellbeing.
  • De-escalate emotionally charged situations with professionalism, empathy, and calm intervention.
  • Support clients in crisis to access further support services & make appropriate referrals, including during overnight shifts.
  • Assist with daily routines, promote independent living skills, and encourage self-confidence and resilience.
  • Build trusting, non-judgmental relationships with those facing complex needs.

Available Shifts:

  • 07:45am – 8:15pm
  • 8:00pm – 8:00am
  • 4:00pm – 1:00am

About You:

  • A minimum of 12 months’ experience in UK health & social care, preferably in crisis, homelessness, or mental health settings.
  • Proven experience working with individuals affected by:
    • Anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation
    • Substance misuse and overdose risks
    • Emotional trauma and behavioural challenges
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
  • Excellent communication, active listening, and de-escalation skills.
  • Right to work in the UK – No sponsorships or restrictions.
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred).
  • Up-to-date mandatory training (or willingness to refresh).
