Support Worker – Homeless Services (Derbyshire Area)

Balfor Recruitment is currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team, working with individuals in homeless services in and around the Derbyshire area. This role offers flexible shifts, allowing you to find the perfect work-life balance while making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals.
We work with a wide range of clients, including homeless shelters, outreach programs, and supported accommodation services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing emotional and practical support to individuals experiencing homelessness
- Assisting with wellbeing checks and monitoring the welfare of service users
- Offering guidance and support in accessing accommodation, benefits, and other essential services
- Administering medication and maintaining accurate records
- Helping service users with basic daily tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, and maintaining their living environment
- Promoting safety and security within the service, including monitoring security systems and addressing any concerns
- Acting as a positive role model and empowering individuals to work towards their goals
What We’re Looking For:
- At least 6 months of experience in the health and social care sector (preferably in homeless services or similar settings)
- Experience working with individuals facing complex needs, including drug and alcohol misuse, mental health challenges, or homelessness
- A caring, non-judgmental attitude, with the ability to engage and support individuals in a compassionate and respectful way
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and an understanding of the challenges faced by homeless individuals
