Urgent Job Vacancy: Specialist Complex Needs Teaching Assistant

Position Overview: We are urgently seeking a compassionate and experienced Specialist Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff to provide individualized support and assistance to students with complex needs, ensuring they receive the personalized care and attention they need to access learning and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with complex needs, including but not limited to physical disabilities, sensory impairments, medical conditions, and associated support requirements.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
- Support students with personal care, mobility, communication, and medical needs, ensuring their health, safety, and wellbeing are prioritized at all times.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported to participate actively in their education.
- Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, therapists, healthcare professionals, and parents to monitor student progress, evaluate individual needs, and implement appropriate strategies and interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and achievement, contributing to the assessment and reporting process as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Previous experience working with students with complex needs, preferably within a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of complex needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, medical conditions, and associated support requirements.
- Relevant qualifications or training in supporting individuals with complex needs, such as a Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (or equivalent).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with complex needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and respond to unexpected situations as they arise.
