SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Liverpool
Position: Full-time, ongoing
Salary: £85 – £100 per day
About the Role:
An outstanding special educational needs (SEN) school in Dudley is looking for a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, ongoing basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support children with a range of additional needs in a warm, inclusive, and supportive school environment. The school caters to pupils with cognition and learning difficulties, physical disabilities, autism, and complex health needs.
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide individualised support, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of SEN needs

Assist in preparing and adapting resources and learning materials

Support teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive lessons

Help with classroom displays and creating a positive, engaging learning space

Foster positive, supportive relationships with pupils and staff
-
Support personal care and well-being routines when required, including toileting, feeding, and personal hygiene assistance

Promote a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for all pupils
The Ideal Candidate Will:
-
Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (Desired)
-
Have experience or a strong interest in supporting children with SEN
-
Be flexible, patient, and proactive in their approach
-
Demonstrate excellent teamwork and communication skills
-
Be nurturing, empathetic, and understanding of individual pupil needs
-
Be comfortable and confident supporting personal care routines as part of the role
-
Have experience or training in PECS, Makaton, and working with children with ASD, SLD, and non-verbal communication needs

Hold a Level 1 safeguarding certificate
Requirements:

Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

PECS and Makaton training/experience (desirable)

Experience working with ASD, SLD, complex needs, and personal care

Level 1 safeguarding certificate

Recent, relevant school-based references

Valid photo ID (Driving License or Passport)

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
