The School/Role
We are seeking a passionate SEN Teacher to join our dedicated team at a fantastic SEN school in Birmingham. This full-time, permanent role involves leading and delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they receive the support and guidance they need to reach their full potential.
Key Duties
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated lessons and learning activities to meet the diverse needs of students with SEN.
- Individualised Support: Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs) to address the specific learning and behavioural needs of each student.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Assess student progress, set targets, and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborative Working: Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCO, external agencies, and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student support and inclusion.
- Inclusive Classroom Environment: Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love of learning and promotes positive social interactions.

Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Specialism or additional qualifications in SEN teaching or inclusive education
- Experience teaching students with SEN, preferably in a mainstream or special school setting
- Strong understanding of SEN strategies, interventions, and best practices
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable
- Additional qualifications or training in specific areas of SEN (e.g., autism, dyslexia, speech and language disorders)
- Experience using assistive technology and alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton)
- Experience working with students with complex needs or challenging behaviour
- Recent school-based references
- Valid Photo ID – Driving Licence or passport
- Full DBS – on the update service or willingness to obtain a new enhanced DBS
