Residential Support Worker (RSW)

About the Role: Our client provides care services to children, young people, and families across Derbyshire, Staffordshire, and the West Midlands. They are focused on giving young people the best start in life through dedicated support.

The Team: The team is vital to delivering high-quality care, with regular training, appraisals, and supervision. Internal progression is a key focus, with many current managers having started as Residential Support Workers. Staff are recognized and rewarded through incentives like Employee of the Month, pay increases, and team-building activities.

Training: All necessary training is provided, including funding for Level 3, 4, or 5 QCF/NVQ Residential Childcare qualifications.

Main Duties:

  • Support the Manager in providing personalized care to young people.
  • Build relationships and help young people achieve their goals.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies.
  • Support daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and attending appointments.
  • Safeguard young people and follow procedures for raising concerns.

Shift Patterns: Typically, 1 day on and 2 days off, averaging 10-11 shifts per month with approximately 6 sleep-ins.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a children’s residential setting.
  • Understanding of legislation related to young people’s care.
  • Experience working with young people facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.

Required Qualifications:

  • Full driving license and own transport (preferred).
  • NVQ Level 3, 4, or 5 in Residential Childcare or Leadership & Management.
  • Availability for at least 3 shifts per week, including sleep-ins.
  • Enhanced DBS (client may fund this if needed).
