PRU Teaching Assistant

Location: Walsall, West Midlands (this location is not limited we have PRU based roles in Birmingham)

Duration: Full-time, temporary on-going

Start: ASAP

Daily Rate: £85-105 per day

Our client, a reputable alternative provision based in Walsall, is dedicated to providing specialised education and support for students aged 5-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. They are known for their nurturing and inclusive environment where every student is supported to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Job Summary:

We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated PRU Teaching Assistant to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic progress, including assisting with behavior management and facilitating students’ reintegration into lessons. This will involve working collaboratively with their pastoral team, teachers, and external agencies.

Responsibilities:

Individualized Support: Tailor support plans for students, addressing their unique academic and pastoral needs.

Academic Assistance: Provide targeted tutoring, study skills, and academic guidance to help students excel in their KS3 studies.

Behavioral Intervention: Implement effective strategies for managing and positively influencing student behavior, fostering a positive learning environment.

Emotional Well-being: Offer emotional support and counselling, creating a safe space for students to express themselves and develop coping mechanisms.

Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a collaborative and integrated approach to student support.

Monitoring Progress: Regularly assess and monitor the academic and pastoral progress of students, adjusting support strategies as needed.

Transition Support: Facilitate smooth transitions for students, especially during key educational milestones.

Empathy and Compassion: A genuine passion for supporting students, coupled with a compassionate approach to understanding and addressing their needs.

Effective Communication: Strong communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a collaborative support network.

Adaptability: Ability to adapt to the dynamic and varied needs of students in an alternative provision setting, with a flexible and proactive mindset.

Resilience: Demonstrate resilience in the face of challenges, maintaining a positive and optimistic outlook to inspire students and colleagues.

Team Player: Collaborative spirit with the ability to work effectively within a team of educators, support staff, and external partners.

Experience: Previous experience in a pastoral or pupil support role, especially in a KS3 setting, is highly desirable.
