Position Overview:
We are urgently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Complex Needs Support Assistant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing individualised support to students with complex needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and lead fulfilling lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with complex needs, including those with physical disabilities, medical needs, and sensory impairments.
- Assist students with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and mobility support, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum and participating in educational and extracurricular activities, adapting materials and activities as needed.
- Implement tailored strategies and interventions to promote students’ independence, communication skills, and social interaction.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to meeting students’ needs.
- Monitor and record students’ progress, contributing to the assessment and evaluation of individual education plans (IEPs).
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with students with complex needs within a SEN school or similar setting is highly desirable.
- Training and experience in supporting individuals with physical disabilities, medical needs, and sensory impairments is advantageous.
- A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs and abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to the changing needs of students.
