1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Erdington, Birmingham
Pay: £85–£95 per day
Contract: Full-time, ongoing

 

The Role:
Balfor Education is seeking a compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a supportive SEN primary school in Erdington. You’ll work closely with a pupil aged 5–11 with learning difficulties, autism, and speech/language needs. The role includes supporting classwork, emotional regulation, and communication development, as well as assisting with classroom activities and displays.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with SEN pupils (ASD, speech/language, cognition & learning)
  • Confident supporting children 1:1 and in small groups
  • Calm, patient, and consistent approach
  • PECS or Makaton knowledge (a plus, not essential)
  • Good understanding of safeguarding

 

Requirements:

  • Relevant SEN/Teaching Assistant experience
  • Level 1 Safeguarding (or willingness to complete)
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Valid photo ID and recent references
  • Immediate availability
