Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Coventry
Contract Type: Full-time, Ongoing
Salary: £85 – £95 per day

The School/Role:
A highly regarded special needs school in Coventry is seeking an experienced and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time. The school caters to students with cognition and learning difficulties, as well as physical disabilities and complex health needs. This role involves providing individualized support to students, assisting with lesson preparation, classroom displays, and offering both 1:1 and small group assistance to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in the preparation of lesson materials and classroom displays.
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs, fostering a nurturing and supportive atmosphere.
  • Collaborate closely with the SEN department to ensure the delivery of personalized learning strategies that meet the individual needs of students.
  • Assist students with both academic and personal development, working to enhance their learning experiences and outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience or a strong interest in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Demonstrate flexibility, patience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Possess a compassionate, nurturing demeanour, with a genuine commitment to supporting student growth and well-being.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

  • A qualification in Teaching Assistance or relevant SEN experience.
  • Experience or training in PECS and Makaton.
  • Familiarity with supporting students with ASD, SLD, and complex needs, including non-verbal students.
  • Level 1 safeguarding certification.
  • Recent school-based references.
  • A valid photo ID (Driving Licence or Passport).
  • A full DBS on the update service or the willingness to undergo a new enhanced DBS check.
