A leading school in Sandwell is looking for dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join their team.


Role Overview

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and emotional development of students with diverse needs. Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you’ll help deliver tailored learning programs that enable each child to thrive.


Key Responsibilities

  • Personalised Support: Provide one-on-one and small group assistance to students with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, and other learning challenges.
  • Encouraging Participation: Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, motivating students to engage actively in lessons.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to manage classroom behaviour and foster positive interactions.
  • Collaborative Planning: Support teachers in adapting lesson plans to meet the unique needs of students.
  • Progress Monitoring: Help track student progress and contribute to the review and development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Personal Care Assistance: Provide support with personal care needs, encouraging independence wherever possible.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: At least one year of experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Qualifications: A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
  • DBS: Enhanced DBS registered on the update service.
  • Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and Patience: A caring, understanding approach and a passion for supporting children with SEN.
  • Team Spirit: A collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a dynamic school environment.
