SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Walsall
Salary: £85 – £105 per day (depending on experience)
Hours: Part-time and Full-time positions available
We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special school in Walsall. In this role, you will support children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them thrive in a safe and supportive environment. Both part-time and full-time roles are available. Previous experience working with children in a school setting is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist with delivering personalised learning plans and activities.
- Help manage behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
- Support students with emotional and social development.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and staff to meet the needs of each student.
- Foster strong relationships with students to build confidence and self-esteem.
Key Skills:
- Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting (experience with SEMH children preferred).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with children and staff.
- Patience and the ability to manage challenging behaviour.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Proactive attitude with a focus on student well-being and progress.
Key Requirements:
- Experience working with children, ideally with SEMH needs.
- A clear Enhanced DBS check (on the update service is highly desirable, but not essential).
- Ability to work well in a team and support the teacher.
- Passion for making a difference in the lives of children with SEMH needs.
- A relevant qualification in education or childcare (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is beneficial but not essential.
