Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? A primary school in Small Heath is looking for a compassionate and skilled 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide essential support to a student with complex needs. This is a long-term role, offering you the chance to make a lasting impact and provide crucial stability for the student. Key Responsibilities:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, your duties will include:
- Offering dedicated, tailored support to a primary school student with special educational needs, ensuring they can fully participate in classroom activities.
- Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to implement a personalised learning plan that meets the child’s individual needs.
- Managing and helping to reduce behavioural challenges, ensuring the classroom remains a calm and productive environment.
- Assisting with personal care when required, ensuring the child’s comfort and dignity throughout the school day.
- Providing a consistent and stable environment that helps the child feel secure and supported in their learning journey.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children who have special educational needs, particularly on a 1:1 basis.
- A calm, understanding approach with the ability to deescalate challenging situations calmly and effectively.
- A willingness to assist with personal care, as part of your commitment to the child’s well-being.
- Excellent teamwork skills to ensure you work seamlessly with the wider school team and the child’s parents.
