Key Responsibilities:

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, your duties will include:

  • Offering dedicated, tailored support to a primary school student with special educational needs, ensuring they can fully participate in classroom activities.
  • Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to implement a personalised learning plan that meets the child’s individual needs.
  • Managing and helping to reduce behavioural challenges, ensuring the classroom remains a calm and productive environment.
  • Assisting with personal care when required, ensuring the child’s comfort and dignity throughout the school day.
  • Providing a consistent and stable environment that helps the child feel secure and supported in their learning journey.

  • Experience working with children who have special educational needs, particularly on a 1:1 basis.
  • A calm, understanding approach with the ability to deescalate challenging situations calmly and effectively.
  • A willingness to assist with personal care, as part of your commitment to the child’s well-being.
  • Excellent teamwork skills to ensure you work seamlessly with the wider school team and the child’s parents.
