Children’s Registered Manager – EBD & Learning Disabilities Children’s Home
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum (DOE)
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
Balfor Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Children’s Registered Manager to lead an established residential children’s home supporting young people aged 5–17 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Learning Disabilities (LD).
The home is fully operational, well-resourced, and currently provides 2:1 support, offering a stable and supportive environment for both children and staff.
The Role – Registered Manager (Residential Childcare)
As the Children’s Home Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and development of the service, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining Ofsted registration and ensuring ongoing compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements
- Providing strong, visible leadership to a multidisciplinary staff team, fostering a positive and child-centred culture
- Leading, mentoring, and developing staff to deliver high-quality, therapeutic, and outcome-focused care
- Overseeing person-centred care plans tailored to the individual needs of children with EBD and LD
- Driving continuous service improvement and promoting best practice across the home
- Ensuring robust safeguarding procedures and effective multi-agency collaboration
Essential Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Recent experience as a Registered Manager of a Children’s Residential Home
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Proven experience supporting children with EBD and/or Learning Disabilities
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience managing a residential childcare staff team
- In-depth knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, and quality standards
- Evidence of achieving a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating within the last two years
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- An enhanced DBS check
